Support Inclusive Education

As the upcoming federal election approaches, both the Labor and Liberal parties have announced their commitment to providing millions of dollars for the development of a Hindu school.

However, this decision follows exclusive consultations with BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir Sydney and lacks meaningful engagement with a broad cross-section of the Hindu community, especially those from caste-oppressed backgrounds.

This exclusionary consultation process risks reinforcing caste-based discrimination and undermines the creation of inclusive and respectful educational spaces that are foundational to our multicultural society.

It is vital that both Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Leader of the Opposition Peter Dutton ensure that Australia's first Hindu school is developed in a way that meets the needs and aspirations of all Hindu communities, including those from caste-oppressed backgrounds.

We are calling on all Federal MPs to urge both leaders to make an election commitment to:

  • Guarantee that the development of the Hindu school is inclusive of all Hindu communities.
  • Ensure a transparent consultation process that incorporates diverse voices from within the Hindu community.
  • Take meaningful steps to address caste-based discrimination within the education system.

By reaching out to your local Federal MP, you will advocate for an educational environment that upholds fairness, respect, and inclusivity—values that reflect Australia's multicultural identity.
